Tour Description

The city of Venice houses some of the finest art in the world, famous for a cultural patrimony from medieval times to the late 18th century. However, few are aware that hidden within its labyrinth of alleys and canals there is a rich, creative contemporary art scene. With the first Biennale in 1895 the city opened to the new trends of the Secession and later the European avant-garde, attracting artists, collectors and gallery owners from around the world. In addition to it there are foundations such as the Guggenheim and Pinault, respectively with their Peggy Guggenheim Collection and Punta della Dogana, Palazzo Grassi that contribute to the contemporary scene with temporary exhibitions and permanent collections.
